What to expect

The islands of Swedish Lapland’s archipelago are your ultimate destination in this 5-day archipelago escape. Here in the solitude of Jopikgården your boutique 4 room hotel, you will be spoilt by the personal and tailored service, savor the fine food and enjoy unique activities in the remoteness and solitude of your wilderness.

Jopikgården, a converted traditional Swedish country manor, will be you home away from home as you enjoy activities such as dog sledding, ice fishing, fat biking the frozen sea, hunting for the elusive aroura or enjoying traditional local foods in the wilderness settings. Each activity has meals included, your personal experienced guide and a maximum group size of 8, but every experience is modified to make sure your experience is unique and truly your own.

Here on the edge of the archipelago, we follow mother nature’s whims and there is an appropriate saying up North of “there is no bad weather, just bad clothing”. All transfers and meals are provided to ensure maximum safety, enjoyment and comfort at all times.

Day one

You will be met at the airport by your personal guide and support team for the transfer out across the frozen sea by ice road to Jopikgården.

Once at Jopikgården, depending on your final arrival time, you will have either a meal or light snack and met by the whole team in the lounge for our welcome to Lapland icebreaker.

Day two

After a hearty breakfast, we ensure sure you are properly dressed for the activities and the environmental conditions. Once dressed you will be fitted with snowshoes for a hike in the forest where you will learn wilderness skills including shelters, fire-making, and survival, and have a well-earned lunch cooked over an open fire.

Next back to Jopikgården for ‘Fika’ (Swedish afternoon tea) and relaxation. Dinner will be together in the dining room with the bar available throughout the evening.

Day three

With an easy start and great breakfast behind you, you are ready for your stays penultimate event, a half-day of dog sledding. You will meet ‘your’ dogs, and the ‘mushers’ and learn about dog sledding and then head off on your adventure. A hearty and warm lunch is included.

The afternoon is free with an optional relaxing yoga class or explore the village.

After the afternoon’s experiences you will follow the candle to our dinner location where an outdoor dinner will be prepared by our chef. The location is quiet, remote and offers the best chance for seeing the Northern Lights.

After dinner, we will retire to the lounge where the bar will be available throughout the evening.

Day four

This day will be focused on some truly unique experiences, you will do some skiing to go ice fishing and if we are lucky, we may catch dinner. Lunch will be at the hotel and the afternoon will be the amazing experience of fatbiking under the stars. Here you will be kitted out with headlamps and fat bikes and explore the trails and paths of Hindersön.

Your final dinner will be our ‘departure banquet’ where we get to eat fine food, tell tall stories, relive our adventures and spend our final night together before departing in the morning. After dinner we will retire to the lounge where the bar will be available throughout the evening.

Day five

With a ‘Gentleman’s’ late start and breakfast or brunch, you will be well-rested to commence your homeward journey back across the ice road headed for town and the airport.
